About the Huni Kuin & Boa Vista community
The Huni Kuĩ are an Indigenous people of the Pano linguistic family, whose ancestral territory spans the western Amazon rainforest — from the foothills of the Andes in Peru to the southern regions of the Brazilian states of Amazonas and Acre.
Boa Vista is known for its welcoming spirit, strong cultural identity, and commitment to preserving ancestral knowledge.
The people of Boa Vista continue to practice their ceremonies, speak Hãtxa Kuĩ, and hold profound knowledge of medicinal plants, rituals, and sacred prayers that have been carefully passed down through the generations.
The village hosts a Dieta Center, which serves as a kind of Indigenous university — a place dedicated to the study, transmission, and revitalisation of Huni Kuĩ spirituality, medicine, and culture.

About Nixpu Pima
Nixpu Pima is an ancient Huni Kuĩ rite of passage traditionally offered to youth who feel the calling to walk the spiritual path in relationship with nature. The initiation offers protection, preparation and blessings for a good life.
The Nixpu pima baptism is considered the first step for opening and activating the connection with the forces and powers of nature. It is also considered the initial preparation before one can deepen one’s studies with spirits of nature through the Rare Muka diet, so that one can become a professional – whether it be a teacher, technical expert, a healer (pajé), or an artist.
The initiation is understood as a kind of rebirth and as an opening into deeper relationship with the forces of nature. The central ritual lasts three to five days and includes body painting, prayer, physical exersion, community games, concentration and rest, herbal baths as well as specific restrictions.
About the Rare Muka dieta
Rare Muka is a powerful plant teacher & ally used in the Huni Kuĩ tradition.
Rare Muka is a vine that grows in the Amazon rainforest that the Huni Kuĩ diet and connect with in order to learn and obtain that which they want to achieve in life. Among the Huni Kuĩ people, shamans, healers and leaders of the indigenous communities diet this plant in order to strengthen their alliance with nature and to be able to harness the force and power of nature so that they can better fulfill their communal responsibilities.
The dieta is an initiatory process involving restrictions, focused study and a long integration period.
The Rare Muka dieta will be offered as an optional continuation for those who feel genuinely called and are considered ready for the experience.
The Nixpu Pima initiation is a pre-requisite for doing the Rare Muka dieta as it prepares the groundwork - opening the gate to connection with the spirits of nature, creating spiritual protection, and teaching discipline. Without this foundation the Muka initiation is considered risky and dangerous.
Guided across cultures
The journey will be guided and facilitated by Rua Inu Huni Kuĩ and Txana Siriani—Minna Pyhälä, a husband-and-wife team whose work is rooted in cultural bridge-building, Indigenous relationship, music, story, spiritual practice and responsibility toward the Huni Kuĩ community.
Rua Inu is born and raised in Boa Vista village and currently serves as the chief of the community. He comes from a family with strong spiritual and healing lineages and has studied Huni Kuĩ traditions, prayers and healing practices since childhood.
Txana Siriani (Minna) is a Finnish medicine woman, artist, storyteller, and cultural bridge who grew up as a third culture kid and has spent a decade studying with Indigenous teachers in the Amazon. She is trained in trauma-informed facilitation and works with an awareness of the interconnected nature of body, mind, emotions and spirit.
Together, Rua Inu and Txana Siriani seek to create a respectful meeting place between people, cultures and worlds — one that honors the depth of the traditions being shared while supporting the dignity, discernment and sovereignty of each participant.
The journey will be supported with practical orientation, reflective practices and simple nervous-system resources to help participants meet the intensity of travel, unfamiliar surroundings and cultural differences with greater steadiness and awareness.
Their intention is not to remove the natural challenges of entering a very different environment, but to help participants navigate them with awareness, supportive resources, humility, care and reciprocity.
